Breast Lift
As time goes by the size, shape and feel of a woman's breasts change due to:
- gravity
- pregnancy
- breast feeding
- weight gain and loss
A breast lift helps to reshape, rejuvenate, firm and lift the breasts. It can also reduce the size of an enlarged, stretched areola (the dark skin around the nipple).
Procedure and Recovery
- The procedure takes two to three hours
- Excess skin from the lower part of the breast is removed while the nipple, areola and underlying breast tissue are lifted up to a new, higher position
- Scars are kept as inconspicuous as possible, however, they are permanent
- After surgery a gauze dressing is wrapped carefully around the breasts or they are placed in a surgical bra
- Any discomfort will subside in a few days
- Swelling and bruising generally disappear within a week or two
- You may be up and around a day or two after surgery
- Within a week, the dressing is replaced by a soft bra, which you'll wear for several weeks
- The sutures are removed within two weeks
- Scars may remain visible for some months before fading. Since they are around and below the nipples, scars shouldn't be noticeable even in low cut clothing or a bathing suit
